This project explores permutations of place through the boulder formations outside of Joshua Tree, CA. These iconic landscapes were captured through photogrammetry then rendered, layered and animated to reveal their deep time heritage. Immersive video portraits of boulder assemblages unveil the dimensionality and sculptural beauty of the high desert’s defining geology—inside and out. The same landforms are reimagined on ethereal papers where texture, translucency and repetition venerate their timeless mutability.
